LA FLORA, A UNIQUE RICH: The Quindío is the landscape Department of Colombia due to its lush vegetation, with a great biodiversity that constitutes one of the main attractions for visitors, who can observe a great diversity of flora and that can only be seen here which is composed of various native species, among which we can mention orchids, and a variety of heliconias, among others.
DIVERSE AND COLORFUL FAUNA: Of the 1,720 species of birds in Colombia (a country with 1,142 million km2). Proportionally we can conclude that there is a bird species at every 663.9 km2. Already in the Department of Quindío that has only 1,845 km2 or 0.16% of the Colombian territory, 642 species of birds are registered, that is, one species of bird is available at every 2.87 km2. In short, it is the richest place in bird diversity in the world.
As for mammals there is the spectacled bear, a species in danger of extinction, the howler monkey, the lazy bear, the mountain dog, the black guatín, the páramo danta, the sabanero rabbit, the chucha, the squirrel, among others.
